I currently have an Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo, AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, RTX 4090, 32Gb ram, 4TB storage. I like this Laptop but I don't love it. Its SO heavy and runs so hot. I like the 2nd screen but when I got the laptop I was editing 30hours a week, Now I editing 5hr or less. I am not a hardcore gamer but i like to play when i can and I want to play with everything maxed out. I have been traveling a lot lately and this laptop and charger is such a hassle to carry around and in SEA the heat has this thing screaming at 82-85C after 10-15min of gaming. What laptop would everyone recommend right now?

I’m currently using an older gaming laptop and thinking about upgrading sometime this year.

I want something that will last a few years without needing immediate upgrades, especially for newer games. I don’t mind spending more if it’s actually worth it long term. I care about performance, reliability, and overall value.

hello, I'm thinking about replacing my laptop this coming 2026 because it can't handle the games I want to play. to relieve stress after work, i usually play triple a game and FPS games like eldin ring and call of duty warzone. my laptop which also a bit outdated. Lot of solid computers out there, which is best is going to depend on what you value most. That said: Dell Alienware has the best customer support by a mile, their premium warranty is the only one i’ve had where they come to me to swap parts. They run hot, but worth it for the sheer degree of protection they offer. Asus makes good computers, but their customer service is absolute garbage. They want the laptop mailed out for every little thing and it always at least a month before return. Usually longer

Anything with a 5070ti for longevity, or if you dont mind waiting 1-4ish months for the 5070 12gb to come out. Either way, stay away from msi models because their build quality is poor. I mwan if theres a deal go for it, i liked my stealth 15m but you have to baby the hinges. Lenovo legion, asus strix or zephyrus will be the nicer ones. Acer nitro is middle of the road. Check your local bestbuy for open box 5070ti models

I currently have one of those Zephryus Duos with a 3070ti... but I'm trying to sell it on eBay currently. You're right, it's heavy as hell. The dream replacement is an Asus Zenbook Duo (2026) complemented with the Asus ROG XG Mobile (5070ti edition) that I recently got. [And to me, that setup is basically a Zephryus Duo 2026 (it's the same processor) for like $1500 less at a fraction of the weight!]

tbh you’re already on a very powerful laptop, so I wouldn’t look at this as a pure “upgrade”. More like you’re trying to get out of the desktop replacement life.

If you still like the Duo idea, I’d at least look at the new Zephyrus Duo, because that’s basically Asus moving it more towards the mobile side now. Might actually fix some of the stuff you hate, though yeah you may give up some raw power vs the big Scar type machines.

If you want something normal and easier to travel with, Zephyrus G16 or Blade 16 is probably where I’d be looking. Not as fun/weird as the Duo but way less annoying to carry around. I’d go G16 if you want lighter and less “look at my gamer laptop”, Blade if you want the premium build and don’t mind paying Razer tax.

If you want max settings and don’t care that much about weight, then Scar 16 / Legion Pro 7i 5090. But honestly that puts you right back into hot loud heavy laptop territory again, just newer.

Also 82-85c in SEA after gaming isn’t really shocking. Annoying yes, broken no. Most high end laptops are going to scream a bit there.

My pick for you would be Zephyrus G16 5080/5090 type config if travel matters most, Legion/Scar if fps matters most. I probably wouldn’t buy another giant desktop replacement unless you actually miss having one.

It's really hard to tell. We still don't know which specs GTA 6 will need. But in general I can give you some suggestion.

1. I recommend to buy right now, because It looks like old stock are almost empty. And you don't want to buy from new stocks, just believe me.
   
2. Talking about GPU, I think that best future proof GPU right now is RTX5080, but laptops with it cost 2.5k$-3k$, 5070ti is also not bad, but It will cost 2k$-2.5k$, so the difference is not really big.
   
3. 100% buy only with 32Gb RAM. 16 fine for now, but for future proof

So my suggestion are Dream Machines with 5070ti, if you want to spend only 2k$-2.3k$. It has 32gb RAM and 1Tb SSD + good CPU. If you want the laptop, that will still good in 3-4 years, check this one. It has mini-LED screen, 5080 and water cooling box, that will help you, if you are planning to play long. It's 50% above your budget, but I think It's a good choice.

You can also check something from Asus ROG, like g16. Basically the same configuration, that I wrote above. They will cost 10%-15% more for 5070ti and about 30% more for 5080, because Asus always the most expensive one. But if you want to buy Asus you will still buy Asus.

Future proof for $1900 could be challenging, but you should be able to get good hardware near that price point. Any reason you are looking at mobile vs. desktop? Mobile GPU performance is always somewhat less.

That said, consider the Lenovo Legion, Asus Zephyrus g14/16, or the Alienware equivalent if there are deals.

From Costco a few months ago, for $1200 I got a Lenovo Legion 5i 5060, 32gb DDR5, Core Ultra 9, 120hz 1600p. It is very portable and has no issues running any game I've tried with DLSS 4.5. But a higher budget should get you more headroom if you don't like upscaling.

The 5070 ti is the right call at that budget, just set expectations on thermals because any laptop pushing that gpu hard in AAA titles will spin fans up, that's unavoidable at this power level, on the Oled concern modern burn in is much less of an issue than the reputation suggests, worth reconsidering since the best panels in this tier are Oled, Msi Raider 16 max hits your 32gb, 240hz and upgradeability boxes in that range, Legion Pro 7i is the closest comparison if you want a more restrained build.
