3 Best Sites to Compare Flight Prices

I’m on a quest to finding cheap flights. Have normally always used google flights to finding the cheapest. Is there someone else you guys use to find cheap flights?

Directly from the airline

Do not be tempted by the super cheap prices shown by Kiwi or other third party online travel agencies. Ten out of ten times you will be ripped off. As others have said, use Google flights for your research and then book directly with the airline.

About 60 days prior to departure begin checking the third party sites for deals. Make sure you read all the fine print regarding the booking, like restrictions, prepay no cancel etc. Then call the airline that has the best price, tell them what you found and on what site. Usually if they can verify it’s a valid third party offer, they will match it. They would rather you book direct with them because they don’t pay commissions on direct bookings.

Buying directly from the airline is always the best way to book. Using third-party sites just means problems... especially if there are delays or cancellations related to weather, which commonly happens in the Midwest around Christmas break.

Go on Google Flights and figure out which flights are cheap. Then buy the ticket on the airline's official website.

Christmas can be expensive... in order to try to save money, be flexible with your travel dates, and also check nearby airports on both ends, to see if there are cheaper flights using an alternative airport. For example, if you are in Indiana, check Indianapolis airport but also both Chicago airports. Same on the West Coast side of things.

Use Google flights to find what you're looking for, then go to the airline's site to purchase. If your flights are canceled or delayed, it's better to deal with the airline than a third party.

I travel extensively and sometimes will find the cheapest routes by searching one way for each ticket. Other times, the round trip is cheaper. You just have to go to Google Flights and play around with it. You can also have it send you an alert when the price drops and it will give predictions.

Also, there is no magic trick to find an amazing deal. All of that bs about "second tuesday of the month, 3 months ahead, while its raining and your pc is freshly formatted and in incognito" doesn't work.

You can use Google Flights to see average prices, set a reallistic budget you're comfortable with, and buy them whenever they go down to that prize. I will emphasize realistic budget, if the average price is 500, don't expect them to go for 50.

flying from midwest to the west coast in the states (looking for round trip tickets for christmas break) as a college student

I’ve used Google Flights before but it only tracks the specific flight or the day.

I’m flexible on the day and the airline and the times. Just want the cheapest around a particular week but could be any airline and could have a stop or nonstop or earlier by a couple of days or later by a couple too.

Is there an app or a website where I can just put destination and origin and it alerts me whenever around that time any airline and any flight has a good price?

I will be traveling (on a plane) for the first time alone next year. (In the past I've always gone with a group of people and someone else purchased the tickets for me.) Which travel site is the simplest/easiest to buy plane tickets online?

I was looking at kayak, but please let me know if you have any specific recommendations. I have two diff credit cards but I have never purchased plane tickets online before. ( I would just be purchasing airfare for one person, round-trip and nonstop if possible. I am most focused on finding the best deal as well as reliability/security of the website and something that's easy to use). Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Normally when I'm booking flights, I check Google Flights and Skyscanner to get the best deals but, like any sensible person, I book directly with the airline. But, at the moment, when I use both sites, flights through third parties are topping the listings by being a few hundred dollars cheaper.

If you know of a site that only includes the price direct from the airlines and not third parties, I'd really love if you could hook me up.

I always go to the airlines and search. I would never use a third party site. If you have to reschedule that is just about impossible with third party companies. The fine print may say 30 days or 10 days notice required. I had a problem when I tried booking.com for a hotel room and booking.com was a nightmare but I called the hotel and told them the problem and they changed the dates no problem. I had to cancel my card and get a new one because booking.com wouldn’t allow me to change dates or cancel. I was trying all of this within 24 hour’s of booking my room. The room I initially booked was I believe 7 days before I needed the reservation. I have had a problem with one of the airlines before so I never ever use third party. If everything goes as planned you will never know if a third party stands up to the promises they have on their website. It’s when you have a trip planned with a friend and they tell you they are unable to go for whatever reason and it’s typically something that can’t be helped so your not upset with your friends. My husband and I have needed to change flights and have not had a problem with the airline directly as well as hotels as long as there’s 7 to 30 days and I am rescheduling. So be careful.

Yes! Use Kiwi (either the app or website). They have exactly what you're looking for and even more hacks - I use their Anywhere, Anytime feature as a hobby.

I usually use sites like kayak, Expedia or TripAdvisor to find reviews and pricing. But I usually book directly on the website. Same thing for flights. I check google flights for comparison and then book directly with the airlines

Google flights but remember the airline is not responsible for what they show. I found a great deal several times but price didn't match. Also check booking on a partner website to see if better deal.

What is everyone's preferred method for ensuring they are getting the best rates for flights?

Google's Flights interface is helpful, but that's all I really rely on

The cards I use (My Citi Strata Premier is my main travel card) thankfully permit me to book flights through any portal. With American Airlines being a new transfer partner, I've been booking through their page.
