Apple has added a new "iPhone Handoff" feature to iOS 27 that will allow you to switch between two iPhones while using the same phone number on each device.
"iPhone Handoff" can be set up from the Settings app, under the Cellular menu. Setup demo. During the setup process, you can choose which iPhone you want to be the main device that you use most often and which one you want to be the companion device.
Apple says a user's main eSIM will remain on the main iPhone, while the companion iPhone will receive a companion eSIM, and this will enable you to switch between the devices back and forth depending on which one is unlocked.
All cellular settings are managed on the main iPhone, and location sharing is based on whichever iPhone is actively using the phone number.
Your phone number will switch between the two iPhone devices depending on which one is unlocked. You'll see a Dynamic Island notification on unlock when iPhone Handoff transfers your service.
Some of the requirements for iPhone Handoff: * Carrier compatibility (see below). * Both devices need to be signed in with the same Apple Account, and updated to iOS 27. * The main device needs to be locally available over Bluetooth LE to create the companion eSIM, similar to eSIM transfer today.
Carrier bundles for T-Mobile US and Deutsche Telekom in iOS 27 add support for the feature, according to However, T-Mobile's enrollment server currently returns a 'feature disabled' response, so enrollment is not possible. There are some reports that enrollment was available last month.
I’m too poor to understand the use case for this
iPhone 17e for the streets. iPhone 17 pro max in the sheets
How do we increase sales? Make it so that every person can now have 2 iPhones!
Since iOS 5 in 2011, the iPhone and iPad have included Notification Center, a central place to find alerts from various apps in chronological order.
Starting with iOS 27, Apple is making a major change to how users open Notification Center on iPhone and iPad when Siri AI is enabled.
Once enabled, Siri AI takes over the swipe gesture for a lot of the iPad top edge. In iPadOS 27, notifications now live in the top-left corner. It’s roughly the size of two app columns with Notification Center on the left and Control Center on the right. The rest is for invoking Siri.
Apps launch up to 30% faster, including third-party apps.
Improved CPU scheduling makes demanding tasks run more efficiently, even on older devices such as the iPhone 11.
System animations are smoother, including unlocking, Home Screen scrolling, App Library scrolling, and Control Center.
Switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks is faster and more reliable.
Rebuilt search indexing improves results in Spotlight, Photos, Mail, and other apps.
Photos and videos load up to 70% faster, especially in large photo libraries.
Recent photos appear faster in Photos and the Messages photo picker.
Failed iMessages automatically resend instead of requiring a manual retry.
Photos and videos uploading in Messages no longer prevent text messages from being sent.
The Camera opens faster in Low Power Mode and uses less power.
The emoji and sticker keyboards load faster with less delay.
Mail unread badges are more accurate and less likely to show already-read messages.
Improved Bluetooth power management may slightly improve battery life when using AirPods, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and other accessories.
AirDrop transfers are up to 80% faster, and nearby devices are detected more quickly.
Safari is more power-efficient, and web apps perform faster.
Other improvements include faster text recognition, more reliable wireless CarPlay, and the Lock Screen remaining awake while scrolling through notifications.
Hasn’t the top left been notifications, and the top right the control centre for a while now?

They want to put Siri, something I almost never use because it’s useless, where I usually swipe to get my notifications? Something I use constantly…
Siri already has a button to activate it. Why are they making it more annoying to use my device?
I still haven’t relearned fully
Just me who thinks that?
In some points like performance, liquid glass interface implementation is much better
on other hand like the icons, no tinted glass (not only dark and white but colored), solid top bar and other things they ruined completely
the iOS 27 glass with iOS 26 icons would be awesome
I’m a geologist who works in some pretty dirty/hazardous locations (around drill rigs, underground mines, remote backwoods). This is going to be absolutely awesome for me. I plan on getting the 18 pro and this will allow me to switch off to my old 15 for field work days so I don’t have to worry about water damage/dropping/crushing/overheating in the sun with my new phone. Yippee
Definitely faster on my 15 pro
After talking with many people, I felt it was essential to take a look back at where we've come from and where we're going with this first beta. I deliberately brought out my iPhone 5c for comparison.
I'm sorry, but for anyone saying iOS 27 is a rebalancing update, it's just a step backward and poorly executed.
The top bar is just a solid blur with the Liquid Glass buttons tacked on, the search bar has lost all its aesthetic appeal, and you can say goodbye to shadows. Gradients are gone too. I've set the Liquid Glass slider to the most transparent setting possible.
I know it's only beta 1, but since their UI design kit, which they're basing it on, has already been updated for Sketch etc., I think the new art direction is just going to gradually kill Liquid Glass.😔
Still no keyboard fixing…
anyone downgraded to iOS 26 stable?
iOS 27 beta is what iOS 26 should have been….. it’s the debugged version of iOS 26.
Great. The best iOS version in quite a while.
New Siri sucks. The new interface is clunky snd she has more issues with simple commands. She is technically more capable now but I always used her most for simple reminders etc which is worse now.
beta dev 8 is great for me, so smooth, no bugs.
- Faster app launches and smoother animations. iOS 27 brings noticeable speed enhancements, including apps launching up to 30% faster and smoother system animations.
