There are no good AI image detectors. They are all just models trained to attempt to classify, by their very nature they will be wrong often.

The only tools that can give you info are checking for synthID with gemini verify AI and open AI verify AI. Presence of either of those is proof something is AI, but lack of synth AI is not proof its fake.

TLDR; synthID the only tool to prove AI, everything else is a guess.

I can confirm also that the image is real and has some weird history to it. This image is OLD!

i usually start with a question, "do i really care?" if for some reason i really do, then i'll do a reverse image search on google. see if it exists, if it does, see where it originated and the date it was posted, etc.

Soo, this image is real, and there are a lot of other animal types you might find floating around, that Gemini mark is a lie, sadly... You might also want to be careful because if you keep going down that image's rabbit hole, you will find a certain porn site you really don't want to see. I didn't. Might have closed by now, I hope so.

Some of the AI systems do stamp them with a label (like in the code, not the watermark), but not all. It really should be legislated.

Hey everyone, For as far as I could find there are no tools that exist to bypass AI image detectors, so I decided to create one myself! An AI that breaks other AIs :)

Found some interesting old photos from 1975 on twitter but when I posted them I was alerted that they might be AI generated.

I hate AI and would never help spread its shit over the internet, so I deleted the post even though I had no way of knowing whether they are indeed AI or not. I'd rather be on the safe side, you know.

Now, the question is; how do I check?
The photos I posted were so realistic, even with the appearance of wear and tear on some of them.

Any recommendations for sites or apps to do that?

I deliberately tested several popular AI image detection tools on the market. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, none of them is perfect:

Decopy AI image detector: Free to use and it explains why an image is judged as AIgenerated, which is a big plus. However, misclassifications still happen occasionally.

Sightengine: Claims to rely on code-based detection and sounds very professional on paper, but it also struggles with false positives and negatives.

ZeroGPT & DeepAI: During testing, their web style looked almost identical to another site basically clones. Detection accuracy clearly suffers.

Undetectable AI: Many related tools are powered by TruthScan, but TruthScan itself performs poorly and even flags real photos as AI-generated at times.

The good news is that AI content traceability now has a new direction. Major platforms are actively pushing related technologies, and companies like OpenAI and Google have begun experimenting with digital watermarking.

I know their are some details that AI can't quite get it yet. But, I remember a tweet by some account with an image of a hot woman holding a gun, and somebody quote tweeted it with the same image, but with some distortion or something (it looked like static on old TVs) and claiming it was AI.

No. There is no filter you can run an image through to magically detect AI. Like all methods of spotting AI what works today likely wont work in the future or work broadly in the past.

Google has created SynthID which are watermarks placed into generativly created AI content via their models.

This serves to help ID generative AI but also allows companies to know if something came out of their specific model.

I picked the bottom left as AI and the other three as none AI. Turns out I’m wrong all four times lol
